 FAQs

  • That depends! Factors that can a ect our e ency include the size of the piece, shape (nice big square versus cut up fingers), obstacles in the area, proximity to an access point...lots of things. On a nice, wide open, square field and at 2 GPA, 50 acres an hour is reasonable.

  • That is up to you! We can supply the chemical or you can. It's easier for us if you line that up but we'll work with local retailers to get it too.

  • We'll bring enough water to the job - you don't need to worry about that.

  • Minnkota currently uses two drones - an XAG P100 Pro and a DJI Agras T30. The XAG holds about 13 gallons of liquid, sprays about 30 mph, weighs about 220 pounds fully loaded, and is close to 10’ from tip to tip when completely unfolded.

The T30 holds just under 8 gallons of liquid, sprays at just over 20 mph, weighs about 170 pounds fully loaded and is about 9’ wide when completely unfolded.

  • They’re heavy! We have multiple batteries for each drone and we are constantly charging them with the generator that we bring with us in the field. A full battery will last 7-8 minutes when completing a task. The battery (or set of two, depending on the model) will get changed every load.

  • Our XAG uses two rotary atomizer nozzles, allowing us to spray up to 33’ wide swath if conditions are right. We can adjust the droplet size on the go as well. The T30 has nozzles like you’d find on a ground rig and are interchangeable. The width is narrower at 20’ at maximum but we can achieve tighter boundaries with it.

  • Yes, we are fully licensed and insured. Our pilots all have their part 107 Remote Pilot license, a 3rd class medical exam and a state commercial pesticide license with the correct categories, including aerial. Minnkota has received its Part 137 Exemption, allowing us to obtain the Ag Aircraft Operating Certificate. We carry chemical liability insurance as well as insurance for our drones and other equipment. When we apply chemicals, we must follow the label like any other applicator - it’s the law!

About the Owner

Agriculture has been a passion of mine since childhood, nurtured by countless hours spent on my uncle's farm. I've had the privilege of sharing this passion with high school students as an agriculture teacher and FFA advisor. My fascination with technology, particularly precision agriculture and drones, sparked my interest in how it was revolutionizing the future of farming. Summers off from teaching provided the perfect opportunity to explore new ventures, and I started working as an employee for Minnkota. After learning the ropes and seeing the potential, I accepted the offer to purchase the company, allowing the previous owner to focus on full-time farming. Now entering our fourth year of operation in 2025—the longest-running service of its kind in west-central Minnesota—I take pride in building strong relationships with farmers and serving agriculture. Whether it's optimizing crop health, enhancing yield potential, or providing tailored solutions that address specific agricultural challenges, Minnkota is dedicated to setting high standards in ag spray drone services.
